The accelerated digitalization of financial operations has changed the relationship between customers and banks. Payments are easy to make, banking applications are increasingly intuitive, and access to financial services is fast. However, this evolution also comes with challenges, especially in the area of cybersecurity.
Banks in Romania, such as Exim Banca Românească, BRD, ING Bank, and Raiffeisen Bank, are continuously developing solutions to secure transactions, aiming to prevent potential situations related to online fraud.
Exim Banca Românească continues to invest in modern technologies designed to improve the security and quality of the services offered to its customers.
In this context, the bank has implemented an advanced monitoring system for transactions carried out via Internet/Mobile Banking, through which it can promptly identify situations that require additional checks to protect accounts and performed operations.
In this way, for the approval of a transaction, additional verifications may be required. A bank representative may contact the customer or request confirmation of the operation through the bank’s communication channels.
For the verification and confirmation of the transaction, the customer may be contacted by phone via the Call Center. If the customer does not answer or cannot be reached, they will receive a notification via email or SMS informing them that the transaction requires approval; in this case, they must contact the Call Center to resume and complete the operation.
Similar measures are also applied by other banks:
- BRD uses the “MyBRD SMS” service or confirmation messages sent to short numbers.
- Raiffeisen Bank sends notifications via SMS or SmartTel for card usage.
- ING Bank sends notifications via Home’Bank or SMS for transactions, and for certain high-value operations, phone confirmation is required.
Increasing the level of security in transaction processing brings benefits to both customers and banks, contributing to the rapid identification of unusual operations.
