An Autumn of Smart Financial Decisions: Savings and Financing Solutions

Autumn is a good time to reassess financial plans and identify ways to optimise spending.

According to the latest data published by the National Bank of Romania (NBR), household deposits denominated in lei fell by 0.4% in August compared with the previous month. Foreign currency savings, meanwhile, continued to grow, with household deposits expressed in lei rising by 0.2% compared with July.

At the same time, lending to the non-government sector by credit institutions continued to increase, reaching RON 476.69 billion in August, up 0.9% from the previous month. Compared with the same period last year, lending in lei grew by 4.3%, while foreign currency lending, expressed in lei, increased by 17%.

Against a backdrop of sustained interest in saving, investment and financing, banks continue to introduce offers aimed at customers seeking to achieve their financial goals, combining attractive interest rates with additional benefits.

Exim Banca Românească has launched the Plus Start Deposit in lei, offering an annual interest rate of 6.5%, and the Plus Start Deposit in euros, with an annual interest rate of 2.9%. Both are available for a seven-month term to customers who open a current account package by the end of October. Existing customers who bring in new funds can benefit from annual interest rates of 6.3% on the Plus Activ Deposit in lei and 2.7% on the Plus Activ Deposit in euros, with the same maturity.

On the lending side, Exim Banca Românească offers a personal loan of up to RON 200,000 at a fixed interest rate of 5.7%, available when taken out together with a Card de Credit Deștept credit card, helping customers bring their autumn plans to life.

CEC Bank offers online consumer loans at a fixed interest rate of 6.99% for customers whose salaries are paid into an account with the bank. For savings, the bank offers deposits in lei opened online with a 12-month maturity and an annual interest rate of 5.05%. Euro deposits with the same term carry an annual interest rate of 1.95%.

At Banca Transilvania, deposits in lei offer annual interest rates of 5.25% for a 12-month term and 6.25% for a 36-month term. Euro deposits earn 1.30% per year for a 12-month term or 1.75% per year for a 36-month term. The bank also offers personal loans of up to RON 250,000, with an annual interest rate of 6.49%.

At most banks, loan repayment terms extend to five years. To attract more customers, some institutions waive monthly administration fees and accept a broader range of eligible income sources.

Through its range of savings and financing products, Exim Banca Românească adds to the options available on the market for customers seeking both to make the most of their savings and to fund personal projects through lending solutions tailored to their needs.
