I, Iliescu Adrian, son of the late Iliescu Lucian, former mayor of Giurgiu Municipality and a man who dedicated his entire life to the service of this city, feel a deep moral obligation towards Giurgiu, towards its people, but especially towards the memory of a man who believed with all his conviction in the strength of the community.
Today, with pain but also with determination, I watch how the Giurgiu City Hall building, a symbol of the administration, of public dignity and of the commitment to the citizen, has been brought to a shameful state of neglect and degradation, under the current leadership of Mr. Adrian Anghelescu and the former administration of Mr. Nicolae Barbu.
These people, through incompetence, indifference and lack of respect for the city, were not even able to whitewash this building. They treated with contempt not only the walls of the city hall, but also the trust of the Giurgiu residents.
Therefore, I propose a gesture of solidarity and dignity: either I will buy it and donate it to the people of Giurgiu, or we will collect, one leu from each citizen, to regain it together. Not because we do not have leaders, but because we have a conscience. Because we know that this city hall does not belong to them, but to us – the people who love this city.
Let us transform this shame into a symbol of rebirth. Let us set an example to the entire country that Giurgiu does not tolerate indifference, lies and decay. Let us demonstrate that when the leaders forget about the people, the people take their destiny into their own hands.
This is not a political action. It is a moral duty. It is the voice of a city that refuses to die in oblivion.
