Bucharest, 9 October 2026 – Exim Banca Romaneasca, Romania’s Export Credit Agency (ECA), is part of the institutional core of Team Romania, the national coordination mechanism officially launched yesterday in Bucharest to support Romania’s active participation in the implementation of the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy.
As a member of Team Romania, Exim Banca Romaneasca contributes with its expertise in export support, the internationalization of Romanian companies, and the development of investment projects, facilitating businesses’ access to opportunities generated by Global Gateway.
Through the financial instruments specific to an export credit agency, the bank helps transform these opportunities into investments and development projects with a lasting economic impact, contributing to the competitiveness of Romanian companies and strengthening their presence in international markets.
“Global Gateway creates new opportunities for Romanian companies ready to engage in large-scale international projects. As a Romanian bank and Romania’s Export Credit Agency, Exim Banca Romaneasca contributes to connecting businesses with these opportunities through financial expertise and tailored solutions. We believe that the success of these initiatives will enhance the competitiveness of Romanian companies and support Romania’s stronger integration into the European economy,” said Traian Halalai, Executive President of Exim Banca Romaneasca.
Alongside the other Team Romania member institutions, namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Romanian Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, line ministries, the Development and Investment Bank, and the Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid), Exim Banca Romaneasca supports the promotion of Romania’s economic and strategic interests and the effective use of opportunities created by the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy.
Global Gateway is the European Union’s investment strategy aimed at mobilizing up to EUR 400 billion for infrastructure projects worldwide across five priority areas: digital, climate and energy, transport, health, education, and research.
Exim Banca Romaneasca is the only bank in Romania operating as the national export credit agency, supporting exports and international transactions under the mandate granted by the Romanian state.
